This piece was made for the North Devon Open Art Exhibition. Stone slabs, gathered locally, are sealed with laserprint collage, derived from my photos of North Devon skies.
By juxtaposing these two utterly contrasting materials, I am making connections between opposing concepts - particularly that of 'heaven' and 'earth' and of 'nature and 'culture'.
Large thick slabs are positioned at the centre, tapering down to small fragments around the perimeter. Uneven surfaces give the effect of a fractured and unstable world.
