The circular form and the contrasting materials explore notions of temporality , and make connections between apparently opposing concepts - for instance 'heaven' and 'earth' , 'nature and 'culture'. Uneven surfaces give the effect of a fractured and unstable world. Originally made for the North Devon Open Art Exhibition at Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon. Circle approx. 2 metres dia. Jan - Mar 2009. Later exhibited outdoors at Tapeley Park, North Devon. Tapeley Park is a stately home, dedicated to sustainable living, and running a variety of educational and community events.Local stone (sandstone) sealed with images derived from photographs of the sky. The stones grow bigger and rise towards the centre.
